As we age, our bodies change in unexpected ways. We start to notice the gray hairs and new aches and pains, and many also find little brown spots popping up all over our skin.
Also known as age spots, these marks can appear anywhere on your body, including your face, legs, arms, shoulders, and hands. Many of these blotches are harmless, but that doesn’t mean you like the way they look on your skin! Not to worry: if you want to get rid of them, there’s an easy way to do it right at home.
These brown marks on the skin, also known as age spots, are a common occurrence as we get older.
The most likely reason for most of these spots is overexposure to the sun’s powerful UV rays — either from spending a lot of time outdoors or using tanning beds.
The more UV rays we’re exposed to, the more melanin our bodies produce. Even as our beach tans fade, the areas of our bodies that have been most exposed will retain some brown spots where the melanin was overactive.
