Do your best to try and make sure that each ball of dough is about the same size. If you follow the recipe to the letter, you should wind up with exactly enough dough to make 12 balls, which you should line around a cast iron skillet like the one pictured below. The next steps are the ones that make this dish truly outrageous…

By the time you’re done rolling out the dough into these small handfuls, they should fit in a perfect circle like the one pictured below. Don’t worry about the sides of the dough touching. In fact, this is actually something you want to happen!


They key to this amazing dip won’t surprise you. Once you’ve got the dough arranged nicely around the cast iron skillet, it’s time to work on the filling. This is where everyone’s favorite naughty ingredient comes into play: butter!

Now combine chopped chives, onions, and cheddar cheese with your buttery base. It’s already looking like a pretty tempting treat, and you still have one more critical ingredient to add into the mix: a healthy dose of beer!

Once you’ve stirred together your ingredients for the dip and it’s coming along nicely, scrape it out and pour it into the center of your cast iron skillet. It should be a relatively neat process, but if you drop some dip on the dough, that’s fine, too.


Now all that’s left are the finishing touches before you pop this tasty treat into the oven. First, sprinkle the dip itself with a healthy layer of sharp cheddar cheese. Then, drizzle a small amount of melted butter on top of the dough. This will make them bake up nice and brown.

The dip and the dough cook for about 30 minutes at 350Ā°F, or until the cheese is fully melted and the rolls are risen and nice and brown. Once they’re out of the oven, it’s time to serve this delicious dip to your guests!
