You’d be hard-pressed to meet someone who doesn’t harbor a fear of something. Spiders, clowns, heights—it’s completely natural to be afraid of these things.

Thankfully, most of them can be easily managed or avoided altogether. You might be terrified of tarantulas and scorpions, for instance, but since these creatures only exist in specific regions, this fear won’t affect your day-to-day life (unless you live there, of course).

On the other hand, there are some fears that are incredibly specific—and downright inescapable. One such example is chromophobia, the irrational fear of colors, and it’s stranger than you can imagine.

Chromophobia, sometimes called chromatophobia or chrematophobia, is a constant, irrational fear of colors.
