Domestic violence is a huge problem. Men and women who suffer abuse at the hands of a partner often feel trapped in these relationships, leaving the victims afraid — or unable — to ask for help.
That’s just one of the reasons the following story is so remarkable. When this woman’s abusive boyfriend took her and her children hostage, she knew she needed to come up with a way to save herself and her kids…
Cheryl Treadway’s boyfriend was angrily wielding a knife in her home in Avon Park, Florida, holding her and her three children hostage.

Her boyfriend wouldn’t let Cheryl have her cell phone, but since her kids were hungry, she eventually convinced him to let her order food via the phone’s Pizza Hut delivery app. As soon as she finished ordering, her boyfriend took the phone back.

However, her captor didn’t know that Cheryl had already done something clever. In the “comments” section of the order, she had written: “911 hostage help!”
The Proud Parents
Luckily, this unusual request did not go unnoticed by the Pizza Hut employees, and they called the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office. When the police arrived, they managed to get Cheryl and her children out safely and arrest her boyfriend, with nobody getting hurt in the process.
