These Real Life Monsters Will Give You Nightmares. I’m Never Sleeping Again.
When I first heard about the coconut crab, it sounded harmless enough. After all, I do like coconuts.
Only later had I learned how naive I was, because unlike my favorite tropical nuts, the coconut crab is really a monstrous creature best suited for a horror movie.
A relative of the hermit crab, the coconut crab is land based. These bad boys can grow up to 3 feet wide and weigh up to 10 pounds.
They can live for up to 60 years. So don't start owing one money because that debt will not go away.
Although they often enjoy the fruit that gives them their name, they also eat other fruits... and other crabs.
They can climb trees, so there is no escape. Unless you head to water, because ironically - this crab cannot swim and would actually drown in water.
