Rare Photos From Within Disney’s Exclusive Cinderella Castle Have Fans Reeling

The next time you’re in the Magic Kingdom, look up at Cinderella’s Castle. Among the blue turrets and elegant exterior decor, you’ll see something glittering in the sun: three stained glass windows. These windows aren’t just for show, either! Behind them is a near-mythical place that only a handful of people have seen with their own eyes. It’s a room out of a fairy tale, except once the clock strikes midnight, the lucky guests' adventure is only beginning...

Literally priceless

A night spent in Cinderella’s Castle is literally priceless. That’s because even the wealthiest visitors don’t have access to this secret suite in Walt Disney World. If legend is to be believed, it takes a little more than money and fame to see inside the castle with your own eyes. In fact, it takes faith, trust, and pixie dust...

...and sheer dumb luck. Admittance to the suite is only granted to those who can successfully slay the dragon guarding the entrance... Okay, we’ll drop the act. In reality, you can only stay in the suite if you win a contest or are personally invited by Mickey Mouse himself. So why all the pageantry?

Walt's big idea

Well, when construction on the Florida theme park began in the ‘60s, Walt Disney knew he wanted to be in the middle of the action. So, he designed his own secret apartment inside Cinderella’s Castle. Sadly, though, the famed animator was never able to appreciate the final product.

40 years later...

Walt died before construction on Walt Disney World was completed. Not only was he unable to see the resort in all its glory, but Walt also never saw the inside of Cinderella’s Castle. In fact, the rooms that he’d intended to be his personal retreat sat empty for almost 40 years. But that all changed in 2006.
