Doctors Left Speechless After Finding 99-Year-Old's 'Impossible' Condition

The human body is a miraculous thing. Every organ, ranging from your heart and lungs to your liver and spleen, has its own job. But with all of those moving parts, there's always a chance that one issue can cause a chain reaction, affecting the rest of your body. In fact, doctors were stunned by something they found during a routine autopsy of a 99-year-old woman.

Rose Marie Bentley

Rose Marie Bentley had seen and done a great deal during her lengthy life, and she had 99 years of achievements to show for it. All the while, however, she didn't know that something strange was going on inside her body, something medical professionals are only beginning to understand.

Rose the Scientist

In the first half of the 1900s, women were highly restricted in the workplace. Though Bentley was born in 1918, she was never restricted by the gender roles of the era. In fact, she always had a strong interest in one particular field of study: science.

Becoming A Nurse

And when World War II began, Bentley knew she needed to help. Her interest in science inspired her to volunteer in a nurse's aid corps during World War II. Even when she returned to civilian life, Bentley kept her natural curiosity about the human body.

Healthier Than Most

She survived smallpox as a child and had a few minor medical procedures over the years, but Bentley was generally healthy and active. She loved to camp and swim even into her old age; clearly, Bentley was physically luckier than most, though she never knew just how unique she was.
