We’ve all got souvenirs from our favorite places or times in our lives. Keeping something of great sentimental value is not at all unusual, and sometimes we have keepsakes just because we think they’re pretty or unique.

Ten years ago, a fisherman came across an enormous clam off the coast of Palawan Island in the Philippines, and inside it was a pearl bigger than anything he’d ever seen. The man took the pearl home and stashed it under his bed as a good luck charm, and it remained there until a recent fire forced him out of his home.

The fisherman showed his good luck charm to a local tourism official, who was stunned. He immediately investigated the rare and beautiful pearl, discovering that it was worth around $100 million.

This giant pearl could be the biggest ever found in the world - after being handed in by a FISHERMAN. See SWNS story SWPEARL; The man, who has not been identified, found the priceless 34kg gem ten years ago in sea off the coast of Palawan Island, Philippines. He didn't know the potential eye-watering value and kept it as a 'good luck charm' in his rundown wooden home. But a fire at the property earlier this year forced him to have a clear out and move house.Daily Mail

Weighing a massive 75 pounds and measuring 12 inches by 26 inches, the value of this pearl shatters the record set by the Pearl of Allah, worth a mere $35 million.

Gemologists still need to officially certify the pearl, but there is no doubt that this discovery was invaluable to the fisherman who’d kept it safe for a decade.

This unbelievable find is one of the most beautiful natural pearls in history. The fact that it was hidden for so long makes you wonder what’s hiding under your bed that might be more special than you think!
