The Way Tom Brady Spends His Millions Has Been Catching Fans' Attention

Not only is Tom Brady widely considered to be the greatest American football player of all time, he’s also the richest. And don’t forget that he was married to one of the most famous supermodels in the world for over a decade, too. So with all that fame and fortune, fans are curious to know exactly what he does with it; how Brady spends his many millions might come as a bit of a surprise, though...

The highest-earning NFL star

Brady is generally considered the best NFL quarterback to ever lace up a pair of cleats, and the money he has earned in his 23- year career backs that up. Forbes magazine estimated that Brady made $293 million with his football contracts and a huge $160 million from off-the-field pursuits. That total of $453 million puts him ahead of Peyton Manning as the highest-earning NFL star ever.

A complicated relationship

Fascinatingly, though, in 2022 Brady revealed he has a complicated relationship with his wealth — especially when it comes to his children. During an appearance on the podcast Drive with Jim Farley, Brady spoke of his concern that his kids’ upbringing was so different from his and his then-wife Gisele Bündchen’s childhoods. His kids are privileged, whereas their parents grew up much more modestly.

Recognizing his privilege

“We have people that clean for us,” began Brady. “We have people that make our food. We have people that drive us to the airport if we need that. We get off a plane and there… [are] people waiting there for us and we get ushered in.” Even though Brady has worked hard for his money, he knows this life isn’t reflective of the real world for most people.

“Guys, this is not reality”

“That’s my kids’ reality, which is the hard part to say, ‘Guys, this is not the way reality really is,’” mused the Super Bowl hero. He went on to give insight into his and Bündchen’s childhoods, revealing, “My wife grew up in rural Brazil, the farthest state south, Rio Grande do Sul. Very small kind of farming town. Very simple girl.”
