Man Sees Strange ‘Item’ On Forest Floor Before Learning The Stark Reality

Tomas Karlsson was exploring a woodland in Sweden when something shiny caught his eye. Initially, he believed it was nothing more than useless junk. Yet there was something about the object that captured his imagination. What if this find was actually quite special? Well, Karlsson had no idea just how remarkable it was – nor how long the mysterious objects had been lying in wait.

The era?

Sounds pretty cool, right? After all, it’s not everyday that you see something like that while strolling through the woods! So, now we can’t help but wonder: what era were these shiny objects a part of? Given that they were uncovered in Sweden, you might immediately think of the Viking Age.

Not Viking

Hey, we don’t blame you. But in this particular instance, here’s something to keep in mind. As exciting as it is for a Swedish archeologist to stumble upon an artifact from the Viking era, it isn’t exactly uncommon. The same can’t be said for objects from the Bronze Age, though.

The Nordic Bronze Age

The Nordic Bronze Age was a truly fascinating period in Scandinavia’s history – separating the Stone and Iron Ages. For reference, it began in 1700 BC and came to an end in 500 BC. And the shiny items that Karlsson randomly uncovered in April 2021 dated back to that time.

Working with metal

What made the Nordic Bronze Age so intriguing, then? Well, it marked a time when metals began to arrive in Scandinavia via Europe, and specialists would craft objects from the materials. They apparently traded amber to get their hands on it, in case you were curious.
