A commune in the small town of Saint-Lys, located in southwestern France, was recently burgled. When the police arrived, their forensic team set about searching the property for any kind of clues or evidence as to who the perpetrator might have been.

One detective was outside in the back garden when he spotted something strange: A squashed mushroom with a footprint pressed into it! When detectives checked it against the residents' shoes, there were no matches, so it had to belong to the burglar...

One detective was in the yard when he noticed a squashed mushroom. Remarkably, the mushroom bore a detailed footprint! They checked it against the sole patterns of all the residents' shoes, but there were no matches. Then they moved on to the neighbors...
Sure enough, the footprint of a young man who lived nearby was a perfect match! When he was confronted with the evidence, he confessed to the burglary and has now been charged with the crime. Thanks to a single mushroom and some good detective work, justice will be served!
