The Queen's Wardrobe Adviser Comes From The Most Unlikely Background

Imagine what it's like to work for Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II of England. Being anywhere near the Queen sounds like a nerve-racking experience, but if you can believe it, her wardrobe adviser handles the pressure with a big smile on her face. Angela Kelly not only works for one of the most important women in the world, but she also happens to be a very close friend of the Queen. However, Angela's road to becoming the Queen's personal stylist and designer was not even remotely traditional.

Personal Advisor to Her Majesty

Queen Elizabeth's close confidante Angela Kelly has worked hard to achieve the title Personal Advisor to Her Majesty (The Queen's Wardrobe), but how? While Angela may not have the most conventional training, she has much more on her side.

Humble Roots

Angela's background is pretty humble, and she wishes to keep it that way despite her prestigious occupation. She grew up in a little house in Liverpool with her parents, but would later grace the grounds of the enormous Buckingham Palace.

Doll Clothes

As a child, her mum taught her how to sew and make clothes for her dollies. That little hobby took off in a big way. One day she was designing a dress for Barbie, and the next she was designing one for Queen Elizabeth.

Plenty of Ambition

Amazingly, that was the extent of her fashion education (though we're sure her clientele expanded beyond Barbie). "What she lacks in education, she makes up for in her ambition," her ex-husband, Jim Kelly, said to Daily Mail.
